I remember once when I missed my bus and had to ride home on the back of my dad’s motorcycle….in a skirt and about 100 yards of nylon net can-can petticoats.
Petticoats…does he mean crinolines? Girls often wore two or more of them under their full skirts in the 50s. I remember that.
I taught elementary school from ‘64-69, stayed home with babies for a few years and did some substitute teaching in ’73-75. Things had changed. Girls wore skirts in ’69. In ’73 all the kids wore t shirts and jeans with sort of long, straight hair. You didn’t know who was a girl and who was a boy until they were about 12 or 13 years old. Even the names didn’t help. Everyone was Chris, Jody, Kelly or Tracey! It was unisex time and sure confused the substitute teachers.
Well, excuse me, but I need to make sure that people stopped criticizing Garfield and comparing it with GMGs. Those people should keep their insults of Garfield with themselves.

Would you stop repeating that?! I’m tired of it! I like Garfield from 1978-1979 and from 1998 to present!

I remember petticoats. Hadn’t thought of those in years. I remember wearing them as a youngster.

Pretty sure this is a jab at John’s small farming town upbringing.
