Has to still be the 40s – men are still wearing hats when they are out and about. Women’s hairstyles and hats also look like they are from the 40s. And, of course, there are a LOT of people riding the train! I have taken a train to and from Glenwood Springs twice in the past year and there were maybe two or three people per coach!
Like the joke about the old man who sees his wife sitting in a chair, with her back to him, in their home some distance off. He calls out I love you and gets no response. Thinking she has not heard him, he moves to within 8 feet and says it again and again gets no response. Finally he goes right up to her and says right in her ear the same words.
This time he hears her reply: Yes, for the third time, I love you too.
