Transformer blows in lightning storm! (Tell me about it; we had a big one here in Chicagoland yesterday.) Now the confusion inside is likely to drive everyone outside, to join in the grand shootout over the weekend….
Let’s all sing along with Pat Travers…No kiddin’I’m ready to fightI’ve been lookin’ for my baby all nightIf I get her in my sightBoom boom! RIGHT HERE! Out go the lights!
Marion Mitchell Morrison (born Marion Robert Morrison but his mother changed his middle name when he was 6 and she had a second son – Michael came from the studio secretary who typed up his first contract) was an extremely complicated man. Even people who you’d expect to dislike him – Lauren Bacall, Jimmy Carter, Rock Hudson – liked him as a person even though they abhorred his political positions. A psycho-history of John Wayne would be very interesting.
Lights Out, one of many radio plays written by written by Arch Oboler, "Perhaps the best remembered story from this series of Lights Out is Chicken Heart. In that story, the tiny heart of a chicken, kept alive in a Petri dish in a lab, grows exponentially until it covers the entire earth. Oboler was very innovative with sound effects, and the insistent beating heart creates much of the terror in the broadcast. " (Wiki)
I can’t believe all the fuss over DIck Tracy making a movie quote! We have two gangs ready to open fire on each other, Tracy making an arrest, the lights go out – and some one complains about a movie quote? So what if he never made one before.
Form what Mike has said, we are going to learn more about Dick Tracy’s personality in coming months, including his favourite movies and things like that, apparently from this. I have no objections.

Somewhat off-topic:
Check out the Li’l Abner strip reprints beginning September 15, 2013. It’s a story featuring Chester Gould (parodied as “Lester Gooch”) from 1948.

So apparently one of Tracy’s favorite movies stars John Wayne as an aging gunslinger. Wow, what a surprise!

I can read the posts but I can’t see the strips. Strange !!!

Pressure may try to make a run for it while Pop Wheaton rustles up an oil lamp or two. And that might be enough to start the shooting.

I can hear Harry Morgan’s voice saying that line. “The Shootist” was a great movie.

MMM was a hero in the movies – not so much in life. I can seperate the 2, but there are many actors that are better people and role models than he.
