Al seems to have gotten rather indecisive and defensive since Flask tried to mind drain him. Wonder if he ever figured out that Jake was also on jury duty for that trial.
Jacob has always struck me as the manipulative, devious type. Since I first saw him something struck me as odd, fitting for the diabolical megalomaniacal villain type individual. I was looking thru the auction block recently and realized why he looked more controlling than sociable… It’s the GLASSES! But, aren’t rabbits supposed to have exceptional eye-sight? Perhaps not as a deranged dictatorial Anthro!
Ah! They got it up finally!#If Albert’s talking about Jake Jackrabbit’s piece “Traitors in Our Midst,” crumpled up and, apparently, not published at the time…then “last year” puts some more chronology in play, fixing the tail-end of the Adventures of Albert and Gustine in relation to the Adventures of Wally and Holly and / or Linda…
Al isn’t being indecisive. He’s just thinking through the consequences of his intended actions. He knows enough to be fully aware of how awful his choices are. Stay in Endtown and suffer living under a jerk who has it in for your kind. Wander around the surface and struggle to survive among the Topsiders and other monsters. Try to find a colony realizing that most are resource poor and wouldn’t welcome strangers. What’s a typhoid Mary to do?
Timewise, on a parallel note, it seems that there’s actually been only a few hours since Wally left Holly. Holly is evidently going to stay put at least for the night. I’m guessing that by the way she kept herself under the covers that she had nothing on. Not a strange situation when you consider the extremes in sizes of the anthros. This is giving time for Wally to consider what to do. He’s coming into a lot contact with people urging him to leave, yet would it be a good idea? Those very same people would be the beginning of a solid base to counteract Jake. Walt’s good, but maybe he’s not dynamic enough. It may be time to beat down a certain duck’s door and threaten him with defective pyrex.
In Endtown, being locked up… You saw the conditions for SANE prisoners during the Milk Trial. If a crazy person seems harmless and nice, like Mr. Hopper, they might let him wander unchallenged.Being locked up may not be an option for dangerous crazies, and politically inconvenient people lately. There may be Cold Equations for them because resources are precious.
What I have been saying along. This whole universe is in survival mode. For six years scavenging has gone on with nothing replenishing what is taken. It had to run out causing trips further and further out. Each one step further puts you closer to Topsider discovery. Apparently the Camo dittos are not much to use. They may cover one or two but not a lot. I have said all along the settlements were probably all strapped to some degree or the other. Remember when you establish a settlement like a shelter for long term survival you have to estimate the food and resources for a certain amount of folks. Lets say 5000 for three years. Now increase the population to 10,000 now it will only last 1.5 years. And that is saying three meals a day just the minimum to stay alive. Imagine if some need more to survive like Gustine…takes alot of food to feed a rhino. The water is the big issue. With Endtown they seem to have a lot of water. That is good. One can go a long time with only one meal a day but only a few days without fresh water.Al understands once you leave you will probably not be allowed back. You have to have the locator to find your way. Jacob may be willing to let any one leave if they want. Just no locator to return.Jacob can be defeated but they are going to have to beat him at his own game.Like I said. You have Jacob. You have Walter. Why not Holly…………the Darling of the Milk Trial.Make her story known and the sympathy votes will fall like rain. An alternative to both. Walter is good but he is too wishy washy for a leader. He does however give good advice. There are others. There has to be. They just have to get into gear and not sit at the bar drinking and complaining. If not there I would say this. You can die free or live under a bad government. At least you live.Governments can change.Death is not returnable.
I am wondering…Marx originally set up Endtown; what if he also built a second one somewhere else, just for those unique individuals who truly loved freedom/democracy enough to risk their lives for it. I wonder…
Comments here and in the strip lately make me wonder about the status of the other colonies as compared with Endtown. We got a glimpse of how Endtown might have begun some time ago—with “The Duchess” (Flask) and Marx paying for its beginning. But…I had the impression that it was just one of many Endtowns in Marx’s layers of possible realities. But, is Endtown the only shelter that was built well in advance of the breakdown of everything? Other shelters seem to be ad-hoc modifications of other structures.

OK, I’m a bit culturally impaired. What do they do to crazy people? (I assume it’s not just the obvious answer of locking them up in an asylum.)

Seems if the other places deserve mention, then they are Not just shacks thrown together, although no one, or not many knew very far in advance.
