Reminds of a comedy skit where a dude is looking for his fallen contact lens under a street lamp. A second dude asks where it was dropped. First dude points beyond the street lamp. Why? Because the light’s better!

Sigh! I only knew that because you all (commenters) explained that early in the week. I have already explained my feelings about the younger generation in another comment section.

Actually, if they were practical older people, as are most I know, they would have half-a-dozen old pair in a drawer somewhere, kept for repair parts… if only Opal hasn’t thrown them away, if only Earl could remember which drawer.

One reason why it’s better to have laminate flooring, you can just get the broom and probably find the dumb thing.

How do you get to the optician when your glasses are broken. That taxi ride will cost a heck of a lot more than a fix-it-kit.

annoyance factor; Of all the comedy scenes I’ve ever seen from Uncle Miltie to ‘Big Bang’ is that as soon’s someone loses their glasses, they’re totally blind.. If someone’s THAT blind, they’d be toting around giant electronic devices capable of brain stimulation and ‘shape-recognition’ algorithms, but from all the diopter ranges I’VE ever found, both positive and negative, I’ve never found anyone really ‘blind.’ save for people who were REALLY blind and needed assistance about everywhere and not in particular need of light switches.

I remember that in the 60s, a certain UK science programme featured a hand held sonic device for people with very poor eyesight. Never saw it in real life, though.
