If Caulfield spent this much energy and rationalization on the essay, he would have had it done days ago.

A fond memory from a concert appearance by Steve Martin back when I was in college:

Let’s all recite the Non-Conformist’s Oath! I WILL BE DIFFERENT!

(((thousands of voices: I WILL BE DIFFERENT! )))

    I WILL BE UNIQUE!

(((thousands of voices: I WILL BE UNIQUE! )))

I WILL NOT REPEAT STUPID THINGS THAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY!

    (((thousands of voices: I WILL NOT . . . (laughter) )))

(((Yes, we laughed. But first we sheepled. Learn from this.)))

One very good trait that Non-Conformists have is not giving a d*** what the sheep think.

    http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_are_some_famous_nonconformists

(I’ll add Bob Dylan and Steve Jobs)

Nonconformists change the world. The rest just take up space.

The true non-conformist goes their own way, quietly, without fan fare. The noisy ones are trying to make a point or a living. Staying off the radar is comfortable and safer than hanging a target on your butt.

Just wondering if conformity an attribute found more in one political party than the other. I have my theories, but will keep them to myself. (Probably dancing with the troll now, better quit while I’m ahead)
