Frazz by Jef Mallett for October 12, 2013
Transcript:
Frazz: So Diana Nyad finally swam from Cuba to Florida. What's remarkable is not that she swam 110 miles, or that she is 64 years old. It's that she had the perseverance to attempt it five times. Coach Hacker: I still don't care. Frazz: Well, I've only told you about it four times.

Weren’t there rumors that she didn’t do it legit?

Sounds like Frazz is paying Hacker back for his banter about the latest football scores.

Her name is also a palindrome.

I don’t see a palindrome in either her first or last name.

If you take both the first name and the second name together, it gets very close. The Y and the I sound being similar.

So it is a phonetic palindrome ….

I agree with Coach Hacker. This sort of thing is way overrated. I don’t see that anything in the world is better because she did this.

Wait, who’s deciding what assistance is “allowed”? When I’m 64, I’ll decide for myself just what is allowed in my personal accomplishments, thank you very much.

No, it was recently verified that she really did swim all those miles without a shark cage to protect her. I think she was nuts for doing it.

Let’s see you do it then…

She had a dream and she fulfilled it. More power to all those who achieve their dreams!

How hungry we must be for the sight of human accomplishment to try to extract it from this woman’s deeds.
As for @swr’s comment to @Rugeirn, what makes you an expert on other people’s souls? Would you care to re-state your disagreement without making it an insult?

No, she didn’t. Some nay-sayers said she grabbed the boat, but no one who was there says she did. My understanding is that she did not use Channel rules, but she did do it unassisted. If she had used a shark cage, would anyone be questioning that?
