If it goes by ship it takes 3 weeks and they play football with your package in their spare time, Just ask my daughter, who had stuff broken. Got smart and sent her stuff over by priority pre paid mail.
The “trick” here is that nobody thought to question the idea that Burl would be sending a package to anyone, much less to someone living in Hawaii.
Burl’s friends and coworkers only travel as far as they can get on a tank of gas…. (unless Ma is ever springing for Florida again.) They’d be very lucky to retire to a resort community in southern Illinois.Oahu… oh I don’t think so.
The package says Hummel, besides. An expensive gift, coming from a Penny.
Of course, Joy usually gets a Hummel for Christmas, according to one strip we saw….so maybe they used one of those boxes to package something from the dollar store.
Marg….. Years ago, I met a very nice guy in Vancouver….. (I can hear Burl saying “That’s in Canada, Peg.”)
He was actually from Manitoba, some little town just north of Winnepeg, he said. When I told him where I lived in California, he asked me whether California was in San Francisco.
Speaking of which…. Toenails… huh?
Honolulu is ON the island of Oahu….. IN the state of Hawaii…but strangely enough, Oahu, in turn, is IN Honolulu….cos the whole island, including the city of Honolulu, is IN Honolulu County.
Be sure to STAMP it good and hard.. Air mail? Are they sure they want to spend the extra dollar? Is it worth a dollar anyway? I see they didn’t ask about ins. so it must be from the dollar dump.
There is no such thing as USPS overnight to Hawaii. 2 days package is $39.95, so what would Burl by at the Dollar Dump to send to someone? Or maybe it is something nice that didn’t sell at one of their garage sales.
Answer my own question, they are sending a Hummel. We used to collect them until I bumped the shelf and broke all but one. Lost interest after that. I see on line they are worth less than we used to pay for them 30 years ago. I suppose they are re-gifting as they prefer plastic figurines, much better quality, they don’t break so easy.

I’m glad that Burl does have some knowledge of geography.
I worked with people that didn’t know that Alaska was a state…

Yeah, Joy, and putting ‘FRAGILE’ on it will make them handle it gently, too.

Trick question, Peg. Honolulu, HI is in Oahu, not on Oahu. Just like Parma, OH is in Cuyahoga County and not on Cuyahoga County.
Score another one for the B-Man. He likes to poke government (we’re not government workers!!) workers wherever he finds them.

Alright. That’s one backage that’s headed for the Helsinki dead letter office.

Joy also believes that pressing the elevator call button repeatedly makes the car come faster.
