The truth? The truth is that government spending does need to be brought under control. The truth is that the “affordable care act” is far from perfect, but it IS the law. The truth is that a funding bill that did not include as a provision the defunding or delay of inplementing the ACA would have already been passed and signed, and there would have BEEN no shutdown; unfortunately, certain single-minded and simple-minded individuals are so determined that ACA must not exist that they are not just willing, but EAGER to put the entire country and its economy on its knees rather than give up their holy grail of eliminating it. The truth is that there is no way that the American People and the day-to-day function of their government should be held hostage because a few whiny children threaten to take their ball and go home, The truth is that this country is being held up for ridicule before the whole world- and the world is laughing at us. I guess the weather in the morning is going to be a b*tch.

Sorry if I offended you. The truth is still the truth; all the bills passed by the house to reopen parts of the government contain language specifically aimed at defunding the ACA. When Congress introduces a bill directing its members to seek out and provide their own health care; when they vote to forego their own pay when they insist on a stoppage of government; when they grow up and do the job we hired them to do- on BOTH sides of the aisle- I’ll welcome your arguments. The argument over funding the government is one thing, and it has serious effects on everyone. The ACA is something that can be discussed and dealt with over time, without deliberately instigating a national crisis and bringing the country to a halt. Both parties are pointing fingers and saying the other side won’t talk, but by any rational interpretation in this case it is the GOP controlled house who are the terrorists holding us hostage. Seems like for a health care program nobody needs or wants, there are a lot of people trying desperately to sign up. Do you seriously think that all things being exactly the same otherwise, “Romneycare” would be an issue with the GOP?

My sincere apologies to all “Ziggy” readers for allowing myself to be baited into a political rant or two. It’s something I try very hard to avoid.
