The Spanish version is interesting. On the table are some cards, not a game board. The game they are playing is called “carioca”, a Latin-American version of rummy. But the word also means a native of Rio de Janeiro, so Cruz’s reply is “I don’t speak Portuguese”.
I’m not sure, but I don’t think it develops that early, especially if your diet includes enough dairy, as most Latin cuisines tend to. Still, it’s a good example of quick thinking, and it shows that there’s a lot more to Cruiz than you’d expect.
