Sometimes the best way to get hired is to start as a temp. Because of the fear of getting sued for discrimination, a company sometimes hires a temp through an agency when they are looking for an employee. If the employee turns out to be a good one, then the company might offer him/her a permanent position. Of course, you usually aren’t told if they are looking to hire permanently, unless they are interested in you. Doesn’t always work out that way, if the company isn’t sure the demand for that job will be long-term.

I’m certainly not a stable worker. I hate cleaning up after horses.
