Operator: EXCUSE ME, This is the operator Captain Oever, I havean emergency call on line 5 from a Mr. Hamm.Oever : Alright, Give me Hamm on 5, hold the Mayo.
I never actually saw the movie (shocking, I know!), but I used to love “Police Squad.” We need more of that kind of comedy for these treacherous modern times…….
Or a Tex Avery cartoon done in live action. Wonder if they ever thought of making kid- friendly movies and TV shows that way also. Well, they already did one TV show: Police Squad!
The sad thing about this comic strip today is realizing how few memorable (and quotable) lines have been in comedy movies in the past 25 years. Everyone can quote numerous great lines from Blazing Saddles or Inspector Clouseau, and that tradition ran strong from Animal Crackers through Animal House. Think Princess Bride is the last one I remember with more than a couple great lines. Lots of cute gags, in Team America for example, but great lines? No longer exist – we are no longer a literate country.
