Technically, the caption is correct. The assassination of Julius Caesar by the Roman Senate took place just before the Roman Republic became the Roman Empire.
Enlarged image can be found here, or at the only work (added yesterday), by this artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog. The Death of Julius Caesar (link shows event’s Wikipedia page) is shown, with a different coloration image, by its current-location page (Google translated). As the description there says, it was an earlier version of the much larger painting, shown and described here. That painting is also described here, along with a different coloration, click-to-enlarge image.A detail image of this painting can be found here (along with some historical info); but there are many different coloration, or detail images of both, available online. Both are discussed at greater length here. The artist’s Wikipedia page (Google translated Italian Wikipedia page has more) and collection.
Well, the Republicans are outraged. They can’t believe that the ACA is providing welfare (aka Federal subsidies) to people making over $90K – but it’s true.
The political commentary by Mr. Melcher is very apropos. Just love the rants of nuts such as Captain Colorado==makes me value my sanity even more and evermore.
Bolshevik Republicans have learned nothing over the years, eh? Pretty hard to negotiate for the best interests of the country with a GOP that is only interested in partisan politics, private profits, and personal power. Ps before Cs and to hell with the Constitution, too.

If only they would leave it shut – spineless Republican senators will get it re-opened.
