I had a neighbor that bought the biggest pumpkin I have ever seen, must have weighed 20+ pounds. On Halloween day they carved it into a huge Jack O Lantern, Next day it became a bunch of bags of pumpkin for pie. lol I know she gave out pumpkin to all the neighbors and made about 10 pies and still froze quiet a few bags.
I just dislike the fact that people say Halloween without any knowledge of what it is about … Or the plain fact we allready have a word for it in our language.
Jack-o-Lantern pumpkins do not make very good pies—watery and flavorless. There are other varieties that are specially bred for pie making and they are a different story. The seeds, however, are good in both varieties.

after the kids carve the pumpkin into jack, do people actually cook jack, or they just throw it out(waste of food)?
