You are a ‘plugger’ if you can’t afford a GPS. Plus, if you are a ‘plugger’ like me, you only go to certain places and you’ve been there so many times you vehicle has the way memorized.
For some odd reason, my husband’s gps has him going miles out of his way for a simple ride to a event. The one time he listened to it. We didn’t get to the event till it was nearly over. And we had left a hour before the event was to start. That gps is on his phone.
Satiricat: I have often resorted to ded reckoning. It usually works quite well – unless the road curves off for no known reason, or a creek dead-ends all avenues. Still it is accurate more often than more expensive aids to navigation.
The biggest gaff my GPS lady made, was putting me in the wrong town about 15 miles from the town I wanted to be in. I was in Canada at the time. At least she had me in the correct country!

For SURE. On my way to California a while back I ended up in some farmer’s cabbage patch.

I don’t use SIRI’s directions anymore. Just give me compass directions and I’m good to go!
