The Buckets by Greg Cravens for December 15, 2013
Transcript:
Ring Unknown Caller Hm... Dave's Drive Thru May I take your order? ...wuh. Uh. Is this the... Bucken home? Oh, that'd be tellin'. ...urrr... May I speak to Mr. Bucken? No, you may not. Thank you for asking. Well... Ah... Is this Mr. Bucken? Not so you can tell. Ok... But... How much would you say you currently spend on your phone bill? Yes, that's really none of your business. I'm sorry... I just don't have a screen to read to you for any of your responses. If you have to be an unknown caller then you might as well get an unknown answerer.

LOL! My ex has a very common name and we would get wrong calls for “John Doe” two or three times a week. One night about 2:00 am our phone rang and he answered. I heard “yeah, okay, no problem, bye”. I asked who it was and he told me it was someone who wanted “John Doe” the mechanic at the Mazda dealership, to pick up his car first thing in the morning and take it to the shop. “But John you don’t work at Mazda”. “Yeah, I know.”

When I get calls like this I just ask them if they can hold for a short time, put the phone in the bell of my saxophone and play Cry Me A River as loud as I can.

I get 7 or 8 calls a day from “Unknown Caller”. I am SO going to do this. The national DNC list is a farce. Seems like I get more calls now than before I was on it.

I can’t believe they got the last name wrong.

Well put, Frank!
I get recorded phone calls on my mobile as well as text messages saying I need to claim for compensation.

Love you Frank. In Canada – lottery and contest wins are tax free and it is illegal to charge a fee to collect your prize..So when I get one of those unknown number calls that am told I won a prize. I let them talk and talk and talk. (just to be sure). And when I’m asked for my credit card – I explain- its a prize, there is no charge. Then there is the “but you will lose your prize if you don’t pay the handling fee” … Its not a prize if you have to pay. .Have gotten a few blue streaks. The trick is always be nice – it drives them crazy.

That’s tellin’ ‘em, Grandpa! Of course, that means you’re not tellin’, right?
