@Citizen GROG!I have two different bags that I use and have no doubts about my masculinity. The first is my " portable office " that contains my laptop and various electronic necessities, as well as files, notebooks, pens, etc. It has a shoulder strap to make it easier to carry. I think this kind of ’man’s purse’ is quite acceptable. My second one, which I carry a great deal, is probably closer – not in style but in purpose – to a woman’s hand bag. It is a green canvas and leather shoulder bag reminiscent of the book satchels with shoulder straps that we used for school in the days before backpacks became so ubiquitous. This bag contains my Samsung Tablet, cell phone, various bits and pieces depending on where I’m going, and quite often doubles as a grocery carrier for shopping. I find both of these invaluable. I don’t really consider them to be feminine accouterments.
What I find curious is that none of the previous commenters has said a thing about the leash in panel 1,2, & 3. What happened? Did they put it in Opal’s purse?

He was trying to get into your wallet, Opal.
If she has a shoulderbag, she should just cross it over her body to the other side. That’s what I do.

“Because you were gone so long, Roscoe started to miss you. I let him hold it to comfort him that you were coming back.”

My husband doesn’t like to even hand me my purse for fear that for a few seconds someone will think it’s his!
