Fans of Boston Charlie: WFMT’s Midnight Special usually airs a version of the song – as sung by WFMT staff back in the 1970s. Midnight Special airs 9 PM to midnight, Saturdays, and the Christmas program will probably air 21 Dec..A national version of the show airs on several public radio stations across the country; check your local radio listings..Yes, Boston Charlie often appears on the national show, as well.
Skezix is right. Maybe we should move Thanksgiving to January so we can be thankful we survived the greed and commercialism that Christmas has become for far too many of us. We could also be thankful that we’re no longer forced to hear Christmas Music for three months.
Well I’ll be a shatterpated ninnyhammmer! Maybes a quick chorus of “Deck Us All” might conteract the effects of the fact Friday the 13th comes on a Friday this month!
Now how many couples do you know of in their early 90’s are still up and about doing Christmas shopping? Did Skeezix drive to the mall or take the Senior Citizen Bus? Maybe Clovia or Gretchen took them. I just find GA an amazing comic strip.
You see, this is why I read the comments. I remember Pogo, but was too young to appreciate him. Now I’m old enough, and Pogo is gone. Thanks everyone for pointing it out and explaining, I’’d have never got it otherwise. Love it!
Now that Walmart and Kmart stay open for Thanksgiving, others are following along so they can compete. Does that mean the meaning of Thanksgiving is on the way out like the meaning of Christmas? Not if we fight back it isn’t.
Ain’t THAT the truth! The real reason for the season concerns an event that transpired in a manger in Bethlehem centuries ago. Glad to see that Jim Scancarelli pointed it out.

Here here! By the way, the earliest I ever noticed Christmas decorations in a store was a week before labor day, several years ago.

I thought the song line was “Deck we all our Boston Charlie…” (from Pogo)

Instead of crowds and guessing what family or friends want buy gift cards and let the receiver fight all that mass.
