swr: No. The standard picture window silhouette takes up about one square foot, an inch at a time. If you put it just outside the panel, it still works, but does not shade even that much. Thousands of birds are killed annually flying into skyscrapers. Start your campaign where the greater damage is.
Birds flying into wind turbines is myth perpetuated by people who don’t want turbines in their neighborhoods. Window strikes kill between 10 and 100 times as many birds as windmills, but nobody is calling for a ban of windows.
