The runway at Gisborne Airport in New Zealand has a railway line running straight through it! The bagpipes did not originate in Scotland- they were played in the ancient middle east as early as 1000 BC! In 1871, English mountaineer Lucy Walker (1836-1916) climbed the 13,000 FT Eiger Mountain in Switzerland in a dress while dining on cake and champagne.

Take-offs must be easy for that NZ airport, but landings must be hard.

Monticello, IA (MXO) has tractors that go through the runway to get from one field to the other.

Gisborne is a small provincial airport, the runway is too short for something like a learjet. Also I doubt that there is a lot of railroad traffic coming through.

It is? So that’s why I did my most daring leisure there. (Look up “Shotover Canyon Jump.”)

I’m surprised the bagpipes didn’t originate in Scotland I always thought they did since every picture I saw of them a Scotsman was playing them
