So much for tasers only being used in situations where firearms would have been needed in previous years. That’s the line the police ran when they first appeared and it was a lie. They are now routinely used if members of the public – especially less prosperous looking members – don’t respond to a police request with lightning speed or dare to speak rather than respond instantly. It only rarely has to do with police safety being threatened by “crazy people” waving knives, when of course tasers are much to be preferred over firearms.
How many members of the public have died from being tasered when they posed no threat except to the egos of power-tripping misfits who have conned their way into the very important job of police officer.
I wish what I’ve just written wasn’t true – police have a very difficult, highly responsible job that few people are suited for or would be good at. They should be extremely carefully screened and tested when they apply to be officers, and the few who are chosen should be highly paid, appreciated and respected.
On that uplifting note, Mimi, Keri , Jamie and I would like to wish all our readers a happy and safe Thanksgiving!Gotta get ready for the playdowns which start in 2 months.Gil
Wow, prof, why don’t you wander back over to msnbc or some other news site where malcontents can ramble on all they want about the perceived injustice du jour … meanwhile, back here at the comic strip …..
Taser applied to a child for trying to help his friends from a car crash. If I was the police chief, that idiot would be looking for a new job in one hour.
We are two different people. Sorry to disappoint you.An-n-n-d maybe not! Just ran this thru Milford PD literary forensics and it came back an identical match to J Buzzkill!CJ promotes to chief detective!!
That’s no taser! The aliens have chosen this moment of mass confusion to launch their long-planned attack on Milford and opened fire with their laser pistols!!!!
The officer is trying to protect a life -the lives of the two kids in the car. Pascoe is a danger to them and himself by continuing to stand in the way. Sorry, but if you were the one hanging upside down in that wreck, you’d want the officer to do everything in his power to get you help as quickly as possible.
That’s the problem with the MPD…they need to speak in a language that kids understand. What his training should have told him was to say, “Ease up son…We’ll get these kids out safe and soundly and ready for the playdowns”. Of course, the Milford kids wouldn’t have understood that last part.

I guess Ricozzi’s and the Bucket share a parking lot.

Oh Bitsy you beat me to it by one minute! Maybe Pascoe’s first words were going to be ’don’t taze me, bro!’ But the MPD were too quick on the draw
bitsy twill almost 11 years ago
Looks like this is bringing back painful memories of Pascoe’s parents’ fatal car crash. Perhaps the taser will restore his speech.

They’re really hitting the Batman style sounds effects quite heavily lately too

They taze the guy who can’t talk. Maybe the shock treatment will cure his not talking.

You’re all assuming that a mere taser can bring down Big John!

The shock treatment hasn’t cured this storyline.

Knox Foley is going to be rich after this little incident.

There’s an echo in here. Must be a side effect of the taser.

In all reality, the lawsuits will fly after the tazer incident. I didn t know Barney Fife was on the Milford PD.

Are all these injured football players on the basketball team. Looks like Tip and John are going to be front and back court starters.

That taser will get John to speak his first words in Milford. Unfortunately they will be “What the &$#, son *&#$ %@@#, #$%!!!!”

Judging from P2, Tip shoulda laid off the garlic bread at Ricozzi’s. If the taser doesn’t stop BBJ, Nunn’s breath will drop him like a bad habit.

Wow, now Gil gets a player tazed. Worst season ever.
