At least it has a lot more artistic merit than “Voice of Fire”, which Canadian taxpayers were forced to pay $1 million for. (It’s a plain white canvas with a red stripe painted down the middle.)
swr: I experienced the same thing having seen works by the Group of Seven in books – nice, but little impact – then seeing the originals. Wow!It was much like my first impression of the Grand Canyon – just like the pictures. Then I realized that dark caterpillar was really a mule train. Still I had to go down into it, with the ecological zone changing in ten vertical feet or a hundred of trail so that what lives in one can’t in the next, to realize the immensity and yet delicacy of it. North to south, it is like hiking from Hudson’s Bay to Sonora to Vancouver in two days.

Modern art is a con. If you don’t like it, you’re a Philistine, and if you say you do like it, people snicker about how gullible you are.

Modern art.
If You can walk around, it´s sculpture.
If You hit a wall, it´s painting.

It isn’t the work, but the name(or the perceived intent).
