I often had to call a well-known machine tool company for repair people, and was put in hold queue for as long as a half-hour. If you hung up, you had to start over. I put the line on speaker so I could work while waiting. There were only five songs in the MOH loop, and as they repeated over and over they would drive me insane.. The operator would check every five minutes to mock me, I mean to check me if I was willing to still hold. Once, I told her in desperation that the hold music could be better, and she got all huffy, really upset, that I criticized the music choices. It turned out she had picked the music and those were her favorite tunes.

Are those VT100s, the famous “dumb terminal”, the staff are using? If so, their company must be in real financial trouble!
