I’ve been ‘informed’ that REAL Vegans also don’t wear or use anything made from leather or fur, don’t wear Wool or fleece, and refuse to keep pets on the grounds that it’s “enslavement.”
Sounds like they would’ve done REAL well back in the Ice Ages, hmmnh?
The Vegan lifestyle is a hard one. A couple of my wife’s grad students have been vegans and they are hard to feed sometimes. I never thought croutons and salad dressing could be unvegan….
A cartoonist friend had been an announced vegan. But when a bunch of us were out to dinner at PF Chang’s, and he ordered a chicken dish, I figured maybe it wasn’t going to stick.
I wish this idea that vegan/vegetarians are somehow smug and superior would just go away already. When meat-eaters find out I don’t eat meat, by and large THEY are the ones who get all defensive and superior and try to convince me that my choice is wrong. Just because I chose something differently than they did. There are many, many, many veg people out there for whom this is a regular occurrence, far more than the few loudmouths you might find on the other side. I know this is supposed to be joke, and there may have been a time when it was mildly amusing, but it really isn’t anymore. Overplayed.
I’m in the unfortunate position of really not liking that many vegetables or fruit. Apples and spinach are among the few that I do like. I eat far less beed than I used to, but I still like it. I like fish, but not shell fish.

Tasty, tasty murder? Think about what you’re saying. The animals you are murdering are sentient beings.
