My youngest son broke his wrist playing soccer. No drum lessons or practice for 6 weeks. Yes. It IS a good thing.

I started piano lessons when I was 10 and broke my arm at 14……….what a blessing!

The cartoonist missed an opportunity here. He could have a split panel with this drawing on one side, and the girls’ mothers talking to each other on the other side. But the caption would be the same for both sides.

I took two years of flute lessons as a young adult. I LOVED my lessons, and I was willing to pratice. As I got better, I sw the benefits of practice, and became even more willing to practice. Thanks, Sharon Kahan, wherever you are! You were a great teacher.

The character will realize a couple of decades later that those lessons really were valuable. Music is just another language, and ALL languages are good to know. But there are skills developed through music lessons that will come in handy where the kids grow up.
