My mom used to drag me to fabric stores as a kid. And there was nowhere to sit but the pattern counter, and a kid couldn’t sit on the stools because the ladies would make “chicken’s touchas” faces if you did. I would feel so sleepy I was about to lie down on the floor. My mom said it was because I was bored. I later found out it was a reaction to the dyes and sizing in unwashed fabrics in large quantities in an enclosed space. It still happens as an adult who likes quilting.
Amen, Earl! I might choose my father’s super power: selective hearing. Able to hear the dinner plates hit the table but not my mom asking if he wants to go to the mall.
