We tried giving the kids money (for 2 or 3 Christmases), when they were still pre-teens. Then, we’d take them Boxing Day shopping and they could buy what they really wanted, on sale if possible. They enjoyed that. When they hit their teens, they wanted stuff that rarely, if ever, went on sale, so we went back to buying them things. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. :)

Post-holiday is the best time for shopping. And matzo stays good year-to-year, too.
