When I was in my 40s I went to a large clothing shop to update my wardrobe. While she was ringing up my items, I was lightly flirting (I’m happily married, so it was definitely only light and wife-friendly) with the girl at the counter.
I happened to mention that I had kept the same clothes for ages, and generally only replaced them when they ‘shrank’ (ahem) or wore out.
“Oh yes”, smiled the girl at the counter. “My dad does that as well.”
Several decades suddenly caught up with me with that conversation. My wife thought it was hilarious when I told her.

40 was okay? Seems to me, Elly didn’t even want to celebrate her 40th.

I didn’t start to feel ’old’er until I got into my 50s.
