Mrs. Godfrey lacks consistency, and for that I am troubled by her. She wouldn’t give Nate his deserved A in geography, but she held him blameless in the water fountain incident. Maybe Lincoln Peirce is trying to be realistic when I am looking for an ideal, i.e. the perfect teacher as described by the teachers’ union.

I knew a VP who was proud that he gave a student 254 detentions in two years. The kid never graduated and wound up pushing a broom at minimum wage. I still don’t know why the VP was so proud of that.
