I dont remember many scandinavians in the bible. Of course it’s possible I missed a few.

We don’t venerate King for his own personal family values, which were, as you note, not good. We venerate him for what he did for racial equality, which was excellent. Focus on the virtues, not on the vices.

Dr. King did say “I’ve been to the mountaintop.”

Nabuquduriuzhur: You still spouting that fascist Hoover crap? Take that “orgy on the March to Selma” lie. Can you really believe that happened all night after a 30 mile hike and before another 30 the next day? There was a meeting that night discussing strategy with most of the southern pastors who believed (in the quaint sexist language of the day) in the “brotherhood of man under the fatherhood of God”, but that ended at 2:00. I got this from my own pastor, who was there. (In WW-II he earned the Navy Cross in sinking the last IJN large aircraft carrier, the wearing of which got looks of amazement when he was a chaplain off Korea.)

cubefarmer: The misrepresentative I am stuck with, Ralph Hall, finally admitted he is a Republican. Before that, John Connoly (who believed Oswald was trying to hit him and not JFK, did. The “Southern Strategy” (racism) didn’t get rid of many liars, but at least reduced some of their lies about party.
