“Comme un cheveu sur la soupe” = “like a hair on the soup” in French; it means " unwelcome".
“Waiter, what’s this fly doing in my soup?”“Hmmm, looks like the backstroke to me, sir.”
IMO, the best “fly in my soup” gag was the one in Mel Brooks’ Silent Movie. If you haven’t seen it, see it.
I thought that strange too.
There was a young man from Peru, who got a mouse in his stew. The waiter said “Don’t shoutand wave it about -or the others will be wanting one too”.
It cost that much back then for a bowl of soup? Where were they, the Waldorf Astoria?
Once ordered Buttermilk with my lunch. as I was drinking discovered a large lump bit it thing was ice, was crunchy retrieved on to napkin was huge fly
The waiter tripped and I got a soup in my fly.
