I would never listen to Robin Thicke. I’d only listen to his dad, Alan. “Now the world don’t move to the beat of just one drum…”

Huh. I didn’t know Alan Thicke wrote the Diff’rent Strokes theme. (Odd that he never wrote the theme to any of his own shows…)

I felt the same way when I caught my dad tapping his foot to Bon Jovi and saying “He has a really good voice.”

Quickest way I ever found to stop my teens behavior. Tell them it’s cool and you’d like them to show you how it’s done

That this song is in a comic strip makes me want to throw something. STILL can’t believe it was the top selling song of the year. Does no one listen to the freaking lyrics?!?

My kids actually like when I like their music, I usually ban what I don’t like for language or content.

Where do people get the absurdity that this is a “date rape” song? Sure the lyrics are explicit, but it’s about a “good girl” who’s an undercover freak, and the guy knows it and wants to bring it out of her. Robin is married to the hottest woman in Hollywood; he doesn’t have to write/record a “date rape” song!

Is Robin Alan’s son with diabetes?

Anyway, when I was in high school I was at a concert with my dad and he ran into a friend. The friend was surprised we were there and my dad told him (and it is true) the family goes to hear all kinds of music together – opera (okay, only once), Paul Revere and the Raiders, the Monkees, Gilbert and Sullivan, concerts in the park, and even a balalaika and dombra society concert. He was very proud of it and I was always glad to go with him. He and mom were members of a music society associated with the songwriters’ hall of fame and would go to meetings with the greats of the 40’s and 50’s. I managed to find a husband with similar interests and we are often the only ones of our age (now early 60’s) who know the big names of the music periods before the 50’s.

Oh, and everyone in my family is tone deaf and cannot play an instrument or sing in public.
