Why isn’t that birdhouse anywhere near the safety of trees?

No one lives in my birdhouses in the winter but I have three, 2 pound bird feeders and 2 suet hangers and everyone comes to eat. I have to fill them up almost daily. I also put out food for the nighttime critters and have Opossums, Raccoons and even a skunk or two who comes to eat at night. There’s a gorgeous white skunk who comes occasionally.

As can squirrels. My cousins have their birdhouses on stakes that are within the part of their property that has trees, but are far enough from each tree that the homeless cats can’t reach the birdhouses.

There’s a reason why birds fly south for the winter…
