Yeah, Dick can seize it on suspicion of being stolen, then it can “disappear” from the station, and he can give it to Vitamin……oops, this is a comic…..only works in real life, lol
I’ve read that critics at the time of its release, and film historians who saw it before the last copy was lost in 1967, claim that “London after Midnight” really isn’t an especially good movie. It no doubt beats the heck out of “Captain Video”, though.
“The majority of the film is now considered lost, as no known complete negatives or prints of it survive. Brief fragments of footage from the film are known to exist today.” [Wikipedia]
Mary Perkins is the sensible one here, as ever. Vitamin is too caught up in his own mythology to think clearly. But, as I said yesterday, so far there has been no crime committed. What Tracy can do, perhaps, is go with Vitamin to the next meet and put the fear of the Law into Silver and Sprocket….
The problem is any Kinescope from DuMont is worth it’s weight in Gold. 99% of them ended up in the East River when Metromedia (The successor to DuMont, later Fox Broadcasting) didn’t want to store them and dump them!
About 400 hours exist, mostly at the UCLA archive, as well as the Paley Center. About 35 Captain Videos exist, with about 5 going around in collectors hands.
Hey SDM! I gave you a huge compliment this weekend and you take it like that’s something routine from me. Not! I agreed with you, even though you remained silent on the subject.
Whoops, I meant to say 300 grand, I like Dick and Mary for never complaining about smoking….there’s been smoking in the DT strips since Jesus was a cowboy..
Anti-smoking campaigners: Why is it such a big deal for Flintstone to smoke in Mary Perkins’ car when Dietrich (and others) were smoking in Honeymoon’s face, for crying out loud!.Yes, I am against smoking, even in comic strips, but I am a bit flabbergasted by complaints about smoking in front of Mary Perkins, but not in front of children!.On a related topic: Has anyone noticed how the two teams headed for the Super Bowl are from the only two states that have legalized Mary Jane?.Do they know something that we don’t?

What’s the old saying – “there’s no fool like an old fool”?And, “A fool and his money are soon parted”?
Sounds like Silver’s whole scheme.
