Beyond the humanitarian reasons why it would be wrong to kill these two at this time, it doesn’t make tactical sense. There are things about these two that don’t make sense. Two lone Topsiders totally unarmed, waiting in a destroyed mutant colony and asking a mutant to help? There’s got to be a story behind this and learning what these two are willing to tell about it could be useful. If these two become allies, they could provide the delightful duo with lots of useful information.
Odd, features does not list an update and where are the other commentators?Holly is in a bad way. I hope she doesn’t try to take Wally’s gun.And do the Topsiders and mutants have a common enemy?Aliens? Dragons? Lawyers?
Since I’ve returned, it seems Holly has lost her miniature mouse mind…(whoa, that’s a mouthful). I think those beatings she got when she, Linda, and Maude were jailed has twisted her sweet innocent way of thinking.
Holly isn’t thinking clearly, I mean, if she was, she’d remember that mutants can fit into zero suits as long as they’re the right height. even though this probably isn’t the case, it’s probably cause for pause.
Also, do we have any idea of what the Topsiders do to the infirm, genetically imperfect, or otherwise unwanted members of society such as political dissadents? (although we know that they probably eat people in some form or another, we don’t know if it’s decontaminated mutant or fellow topsiders)
It’s possible that these two didn’t meet the cut, and/or disagreed with the regime, and were either left to die in the sand wastes or escaped to avoid being made into soyent green
Okay all of you, explain why she looked much worse like Wally did after being released in July after the MutantMilk Trial telling reporters: “No #!@% comment” while Maude and Linda remain unhurt?!
Not before Wally can get some answers out of them. Remember the two most popular sayings: “Dead men tell no tales” and “You’re no good to us dead”. But to Holly, she thinks now “The only good TSer is a dead TSer”!
Now is the time to nominate Endtown for an 2014 Eisner award, in the category of Best Digital Comic. To quote:“The best digital comic category is open to any new, professionally produced long-form original comics work posted online in 2013. Webcomics must have a unique domain name or be part of a larger comics community to be considered. The work must be online-exclusive for a significant period prior to being collected in print form. The URL and any necessary access information should be emailed to Eisner Awards administrator Jackie Estrada: jackie@comic-con.org.”Now, the Eisner winners are determined by a small, select panel of judges who are respected in the field. The decision is made on the work’s quality, which means essentially that the winner will be the best comic, not just the one with the widest circulation. Myself, I truly believe Endtown is of such quality in art, writing, concept and body of work that it could rank as one of the best web comics, if not the best. I truly believe Aaron Neathery’s Endtown can win an Eisner. Please note that Best Digital Comic applies to long-form stories and not just individual daily strips. I do not intend Doc Rat to be nominated, even though it does contain a certain number of long-form stories in amongst the individual strips. Endtown has a greater chance of winning, and I do not want to distract the vote. Nominations are open now, and they close on March 17th. Now is the time for as many fans as possible to e-mail Jackie Estrada (jackie@comic-con.org) and explain why Endtown should be considered worthy of being on the short list for this award. 2014 is the year for Endtown to break very, very big.
It’s a new story, with Holly taking over for the missing-and-presumed-dead Flask. Back a few months (in the storyline), when Flask was killing Doug and toying with Linda, would Holly have said “Kill them…” at all?
In the strip of 6/12/2012, Holly and Wally had a disagreement on the value of Topsider lives. Holly had no love for them then, either. Wally’s opinion won out then.
Since Holly’s confinement due to Jackrabbits’ witch hunt… her psyche fell off a long drop into whatever world she experienced shortly after the mutations began and her arrival at Endtown… “There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to – The Outer Limits.”
Making them change (whilst unconscious of course) THEN questioning them would seem wise. Unless dear Holly has unpleasant memories of a certain Ms. Kowalski..
Please Vote. I’m not well, I thought I had posted the links, but apparently not, and Level_Head is overloaded with work. It also seems some of his previous posts have vanished. There are only two ways that could happen. Anyway, vote as much and as often as you can, please.
.
Vote ENDTOWN
.
Vote Doc Rat
. Vote Hubris . Vote Kevin and Kell . And if you can, drop by the Once And Future Auction Site and browse previous months to consider which art prints would improve your work or living space, or that of friends. Remember, there is a saving on shipping costs if you order more than one print. Of course, DONATIONS of any size may be made through the Donate button on the auction site, to help Aaron and his people KEEP ENDTOWN ALIVE, and maybe improve a certain mouse’s attitude. I think the segue back into the current strip may have been Holly’s dream. So please send money to keep this story going. I don’t know if we are about to get Holly’s backstory, or if we are just being teased. Sincerely, . JusSayin
Talk first. Kill later. Maybe. Once you kill, it’s too late to talk. And if you kill first, you might just discover too late that you should have talked.
I think Wally has the right idea, Not that MacEwanMouse doesn’t have a point. The closest thing we’ve seen to a good interaction with any Topsider was Linda Kowolski, and she tried to give Holly a headectomy until she was mutated. Still, this situation is strange enough that it would be wise to investigate. The risk is that this pair could be part of a trap, or may be desperate enough to return to the fold that they’re willing to turn over Wally and Holly.
As mentioned above, Wally doesn’t have the suit solvent either, so taking the suits off intact to use for himself for whatever reason isn’t an option. How many people remember what happened when Wally first had a Topsider prisoner?
