I’ve seen them in use – as with all machines, they can be useful, but they’re not magic. If not used thoughtfully, they’re just gimmicks. BTW, a couple years ago I visited a school in India with class sizes of about 50, barely books, ancient decrepit desks … and smart boards in every room.
Smartboards are incredibly useful, but they can also be a horrific waste when they’re simply tossed into a classroom and the teachers are all expected to use them with little or no training. I’ve seen both sides of the spectrum, and sadly, Ms. Anderson’s school appears to be near the bad end.
