Now is the time to nominate Endtown for an 2014 Eisner award, in the category of Best Digital Comic. To quote:“The best digital comic category is open to any new, professionally produced long-form original comics work posted online in 2013. Webcomics must have a unique domain name or be part of a larger comics community to be considered. The work must be online-exclusive for a significant period prior to being collected in print form. The URL and any necessary access information should be emailed to Eisner Awards administrator Jackie Estrada: jackie@comic-con.org.”Now, the Eisner winners are determined by a small, select panel of judges who are respected in the field. The decision is made on the work’s quality, which means essentially that the winner will be the best comic, not just the one with the widest circulation. Myself, I truly believe Endtown is of such quality in art, writing, concept and body of work that it could rank as one of the best web comics, if not the best. I truly believe Aaron Neathery’s Endtown can win an Eisner. Please note that Best Digital Comic applies to long-form stories and not just individual daily strips. I do not intend Doc Rat to be nominated, even though it does contain a certain number of long-form stories in amongst the individual strips. Endtown has a greater chance of winning, and I do not want to distract the vote. Nominations are open now, and they close on March 17th. Now is the time for as many fans as possible to e-mail Jackie Estrada (jackie@comic-con.org) and explain why Endtown should be considered worthy of being on the short list for this award. 2014 is the year for Endtown to break very, very big.
Wally: “If you’re asking ‘Can I pull the trigger?’ Yes, the answer is ‘Yes’. If what you’re trying to get at is ‘Will I please pull the trigger on you and your friend right now?’, I’d have to beg your patience until you provide me with some information. Like, first, ‘What is the name of your next of kin?’”
. Vote ENDTOWN . Vote Doc Rat . Vote Hubris . Vote Kevin and Kell . Sincerely, . JusSayinI Still think it could be the Duke and Duchess Marx and Flask displaced from a nearby reality. I mean, they did take some other peoples places over at a nearby reality, no? Marx may be everywhere, he’s everywhere, but Flask had to displace the Duchess.
I can see the essence of Marx in this Topsider, but I don’t think it’s him. He was just helping Jackrabbit. I don’t see (at this moment) why he’d have the motivation to mess with Wally and Holly, and I doubt Sarah is Flask. He just might be an eccentric guy.
Topsiders have probably been talking about Wally for some time. The guy who threw a transport at some of them, and a ship at more of them. And interfered with their rocket launch, and keeps turning them into monsters… A known associate of the terrorist Philomena Flask… He must be on quite a few episodes of “Most Wanted”.
Hm, several people compared that Topsider to Marx, but I don’t think I can agree. Marx is direct, but also over the top and somewhat manic, even when he’s serious. This Topsider didn’t show any humor up to now. He’s desperate, but he also thinks that he’s in complete control of the current situation. The latter might make him look a little bit like Marx – who always tends to be in control somehow – but I think it only shows that those two Topsiders have been in greater danger. You have to consider: What threat did mutants ever pose to Topsiders, except being plague carriers? Little to none, I might think. The way they toy with their victims shows that mutants rarely have a chance when meeting them.In the end, the Topsider’s attitude would fit someone well who is looking for help from someone he sees as completely inferior to him. He doesn’t have high hopes, but it’s not a great risk either.
It does seem the males costume is not as form-fitting as your average, everyday TopSider’s suit. Either it is not feeding him, or they, These Two Topsiders, have run out of supplemental food sources. Having quit or been banished, no more of those little nasty food packs they make distance swimmers eat, and recycling waste pellets is for cats and rabbits. Topsider’s gotta eat. Anyone know where we can get some milk and eggs? (see, mousegirl can kill) JusSayin
If I remember correctly, Holly did her own fair share of blasting away at MUTTs and Topsiders during the raid in the “Countdown” arc. Yet it’s still much different than this situation.
It could be that the method of “safe” mutation is unknown to most, if not all topsiders. If it was known, there certainly over time would have been a few people willing to take that chance believing that the suit is hiding something they may feel is “defective” about themself and if the time came that it was safe to remove the suits, their shortcoming would be discovered and they would be killed. Life as something else certainly beats certain death to some Topsiders.
One mutt, yes. Topsiders, no. If you recall, the only topsider killed during that arc was Doug (Linda’s partner) and Flask did that. Also Holly has this habit of apologizing before she shoots…. (see 12/15/11)
“Hello! You have reached the mind of Holly Hollister! Holly’s not here right now, and we’re not quite sure just when (or if) she’ll return. Please leave a message after the faint…..”
I don’t know many Nazis but I have met people from walks of life that I do not approve of and found that, with the exception of their known deviencies, they were nice people.
Robert Nowall,I like Linda Kowalski. In the beginning, she was how I would imagine lot of people in Nazi Germany were. She did what she was told and tried to not think too hard about the horrors of what she was doing. I think Wally put it best.“WITH APEX YOU LEARN FAST THAT YOU CAN’T AFFORD THE LUXURY OF DOUBT..SO YOU WRAP YOURSELF UP IN YOUR FAITH AND YOU KEEP MARCHING..AND YOU GRAB ONTO ANY RATIONALIZATION, NO MATTER HOW WEAK..AND YOU FIGHT FOR IT..HARD..BUT SOMETIMES IF YOU AREN’T VIGILANT, YOU LET YOUR GUARD DOWN..ALL IT TAKES IS A MOMENT..AND YOUR WORLD CHANGES..”Those of us who remember her words from “Ask Linda” could hear her fighting for her rationalizations. In Linda’s case, her world changed after meeting a certain tall anthro feline and getting plunged into the world of mutanity. Since then, her life has been an attempt to come to terms with what she is and what she has done. Linda was not perfect, particularly in the beginning, but her actions were based on weaknesses and fears that I can understand. I’m hoping to hear more about how she is doing in the future. I can’t help wishing her well.
I’m on tenderhooks as much as anyone as to who those two in the suits really are. At this point, it could anyone/anything.
As mentioned, the AK was a much simpler and practical design than the various German assault weapons, not just a “copy”. Ironically, the actual “AK 47” was something of a failure, due to construction design flaws. It was the proper production AKM that really got it right and represents the bulk of those made and used around the world.

It’s not Marx. Not smug and condescending enough. Also, he doesn’t know Wally. He would have addressed them both by name.
