Not funny at all, but outside Livermore CA 50 years ago there was a chain of hills like that called “the Seven Sisters.” We found them one night by chance, when all of a sudden the road in front of us just vanished. They seemed to go on forever. It was a popular joyriding spot until a car shot over a hill and landed on another car in a trough, killing a bunch of kids. After that the hills were planed down. Google “Livermore Seven Sisters” to find the text of the newspaper story and other reminiscences. Even after 50 years people remember it.
