Now we get into the real detective work! That’s what Dick Tracy is all about. I actually like this sequence better than the Moon Maid story where it wasn’t clear to the police if anyone was a criminal until almost at the end.
More like tossing the evidence into a living garbage disposal (Lena) will make it disappear. Maybe Nitrate was stupid enough to toss Mycroft’s clothes in the dumpster…..
Right after Miles was killed. Silver commented that his spotted coat was ruined. Maybe he disposed of it in the dumpster? Or maybe that phony film was tossed?
Hmm. “Nobody’s home” (Sam). —Are we really sure about that? Have you searched the entire interior of the Lyric Theater yet? The trash is a logical place to search, if you have any idea what to look for. But Mycroft is an unknown: if you found, say, a shoe, how would you know if it were his or not?
Where are all of the other cops to help them with the search? Or, can’t they get other “helpers” because they don’t want to be exposed to second had smoke!
I wonder what, exactly, Fritz Ann told them that enabled them to get a warrant to search Silver’s abode. I thought the FBI’s info was about Miles Mycroft?
I might have missed something. Unless Tracy and Sam are reading this strip, just HOW did they turn their attention to Mycroft’s disappearance? Did someone off-page turn in a missing person report on a missing thug? They ought to be concentrating on the scam; not Miles. What was the basis for the judge to sign a Search Warrant? Certainly not Miles Mycroft’s disappearance from the underworld.
There’s not necessarily any report of Miles being missing, but they have Vitamin and Mary’s testimony that Miles was in the fake film. They just need evidence of that and the film was likely filmed in the theatre.
It’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not “nobody’s home” because Silver and Sprocket left together or if Silver split on his own and Sprocket…well…you know.
Been reading Tracy since the ’40’s, although the strip isstill a shadow of its former self, I enjoy the art and allegorical names, keeping in mind it’s the best the authorscan do in spite of editorial restrictions.
Been reading Dick Tracy since the 1940’s, and in spite of the strip being a shadow of its former self, I still enjoy theallegorical names and odd characters in spite of tighteditorial control.
I don’t think Sprocket got eaten. Lena ain’t that hungry. Matter-of-fact, SDM told me Lena whispered to him, when asked about eating Sprocket, “You think I’m crazy?”

Wait until he finds out that they will have to search for their evidence not in garbage bins but in piles of hyena dung.
