I wanted to add that the ability to go online is useful. In a foreign language class, for example, the teacher got online so the students could watch the news from the country in question in the original language. Real world application and a heck of a lot better than those old language tapes we used to use.

What would be the purpose of connecting with other classrooms? Maybe even if you have the only Smart Board 5000 in the whole school building.

Of course, the teacher is more important than ever with all the technology. But the ability to connect to classrooms around the world IS very cool.
