That New Carl Smell by Carl Skanberg for January 26, 2014

The text on the phone from his daughter. “Dad, I have eloped with the man that you can’t stand. We are going to be living in our new house on the coast in Australia. Bye.”

Upon reading what his daughter said, dad formulated a plan. That loser she eloped with was going to be shark food.

Dad has made trip to Australia to surprise them with a gift. He bought a boat and is going to take them fishing. He explained to his daughter that he and his new son-in-law need to get to know each other better, so they will go fishing alone.

His daughter is very happy to see her dad, but is wondering why he wants to go fishing alone with her husband. She knows her dad doesn’t like him. Being a little worried, she rents another boat and doesn’t tell her dad.

Dad and her husband went out to fish. His daughter had on a wig and old clothes. Her dad didn’t recognize her as she watched with binoculars. She didn’t trust her dad anymore.

She watched from the other side of where her dad and her husband were fishing. Suddenly, she saw her dad push her husband over the side. She started the outboard and started towards the boat. Her dad saw her and got a scared look in his eyes.

She pulled up and pulled her husband out of the water. Her dad tried to explain that her husband slipped. His daughter didn’t believe him. Both of them left her dad where he was. He would never be welcome in her home again. He knew it and decided to end it. He jumped overboard and started swimming out to sea. He didn’t get far before the sharks got him. His daughter didn’t miss him. The end.

He’s just trying to text Carl Skanberg to find out when the next friggin’ cartoon will appear.

His battery must be dead. Along with this strip.

The undertaker has been called to bury him before he stinks up the whole house.

How’s that novel coming, Katina? :-)

I might as well start that novel now, considering that this strip isn’t going anywhere. His daughter, we’ll call her Sheila, Has pulled her husband out of the water. There is no sign of her father. But, they know he’s dead. They see blood on the water and sharks are in the area.

Sheila and her husband, Scott, now think that her Father has been eaten by the the sharks. They don’t see him anywhere. They aren’t waiting around for any other tourists to come around. They start the outboard and head for shore.

Sheila and Scott are now planning for their future, without her father interfering. They want to start a sight seeing business and want to avoid the area where her father disappeared. They have it all planned out.

Suddenly, her father pops his head out of the water. The shark bit his leg and made it bleed. He hit the shark and it went away. He wants his revenge on Scott. He thinks it’s Scott’s fault that Sheila turned against her father.

Sheila’s father is now in the boat that he and Scott went to fish in. His leg is still bleeding. He has an idea. Some of that blood is going to be put to good use. A window sill at Sheila’s house.

Sheila and Scott are now in bed and suddenly hear something outside the window. They think it must be the wind. They both go to sleep.

Sheila is up, bright and early this morning. She looks out the window and her screams awaken Scott. There is a bloody hand print on the outside of the window Now, they are both afraid.

Both now hear something being poured under the window and then flames. The doors have been locked. Her jumps through the window with the gas can and throws gas on everybody. He ends the story at that point.
