Part of what made my Old Testament Survey professor, Dr. Jay Goldstein, the most popular lecturer at the University of Iowa ca 1980 was his way of taking time out to relate the lesson to personal stories. He compared Isaac’s first sight of his arranged bride Rebekkah to taking his cousin to prom. He had been told she had a great personality, “and you know what that means.” Turned out that lookswise she was a vision. Unfortunately, she couldn’t stand him, so we went back to Isaac.
