You know, just when I thought this strip was dead, Scot/Eric managed to come up with something..And Marmaduke is not unlike the Giacomo character in Gasoline Alley (whom I call Dog-Zilla)..Soon, in Dick Tracy, there will be a hyena looking for a new home. Since a running gag in this strip is people mistaking Winslow for a cat, maybe Hunny Bunny will mistake Lena the Hyena for a dog..Now, THAT would be really funny!.For all the political commentary in this blog, I think we tend to forget: Prickly City is a comic strip first, and a diatribe second.
Stingo Smith: If you follow my comments, you’ll have read that I gave up on Doonesbury long, long ago..Same complaint. Not funny..As for diatribe, I think it fits because there are those whose partisan views are so strong that they seem to want to make a point of making others not seem welcome..As for my views, I have freely admitted my views, but I have also tried to season that with a willingness to read what others have to say..And regardless of my differences of opinion with the author(s) of this strip, it has been a strip that I enjoyed – at least, until the introduction of the bunnies – and I don’t think that I am alone in thinking that they are not very funny..The bunnies, that is..But this dog thing! Hey, I think Scot/Eric may be on to something here! This is the funniest the Prickly dailies have been in a long time!.And pardon me if happen to enjoy them..One of the benefits of being liberal is having an open mind!
dzw3030: I take a softer view on things. I am hopeful that there can be a dialog between the two ideologies. Neither one of us, alone, can solve America’s problems..Which is why I try to have an open mind..What has been a bit frightening are comments – from both right and left – which suggest that the other “get outta Dodge.”.Night-Gaunt49: To each his own, indeed!.A really big problem with Doonesbury includes what seem like endless reruns. Not only is it not very funny, but often, it’s not very informative, either..You hear that Stingo Smith? The same complaints about Doonesbury as I have with much of Prickly City these days!.A year or so ago, Doonesbury started an arc about Zonker and his intentions to come to my home state of Colorado and become a drug lord (his words, not mine) and start a pot plantation..It was pretty funny, but only lasted about four days before it was forgotten..But then, what do you want from a stoner?
My excuse for what? Obsessive Liberals, like the EPA, will cheerfully starve with us all, in the cold and dark, as long as they can claim progress in reducing Co2 levels. Please note, my objection is to obsession in pursuit of a goal, not Liberalism. There is a mind set of “Fanatical Do Gooder” (FDG) across the political spectrum. I believe it started on the Liberal side and the more conservative politicians are afraid to vote against “doing the right thing”. I use the EPA as one example ’cause they are the most obvious. Enjoy the day…
