I have hemochromotosis, which means I absorb too much iron and have too many red blood cells. It is hereditary, and is not contagious. I have to be phlebotomized about every 3 months. My blood would be the perfect transfusion for someone with iron-deficient anemia, and my doctor agrees, but sadly, it is thrown away. Blood collection services won’t touch it.
Wife & I are working on the 11th gal. pin – actually more than that, but did not get records kept way back then. Too bad it’s a non-deductible deduction at tax time eh?

Donating blood isn’t the only way to help. Baking cookies for the BIG RED BUS is also the plugger way to serve. Thanks to all blood donors.
