Speaking of tyrants, I would have voted for Zeljko Raznatovic, better known as “Arkan,” if Bill Hinds hadn’t ruled him ineligible under the “no murderers” rule. Arkan was once head of Delije, a famous fan club for Crvena zvezda Belgrade, and later became owner of the Obilic Belgrade football (soccer) club.
As his Wikipedia page mentions, he “was a Serbian career criminal and commander of a paramilitary force in the Yugoslav Wars, called the Serb Volunteer Guard. He was on Interpol’s most wanted list in the 1970s and 1980s for robberies and murders committed in a number of countries across Europe. He was later indicted by the UN for crimes against humanity for his role during the wars.” He was killed before the trial could take place.
Actually, Rose AGREED to his lifetime ban, it wasn’t “dictated” to him. This was after he became a criminal but before he confessed to being a criminal. Just saying…..
Don’t see how George Steinbrenner doesn’t get the award. He changed baseball profoundly by torpedoing salary structures in baseball and all professional sports followed.-Convicted felon, also.
I am pleased with myself. I recognized all the names mentioned. AND – I know Rodman is an alien and Pete – well, he should have known better. Never bet on your own sport..don’t know who will be the 40th anniversary for SJ – Still like my choice – Bobby Riggs.
.Riggs not only made himself look bad …. he made all male athletes look bad.

I’m glad Arkan was ruled ineligible for this competition. The likes of Rodman and Rose shouldn’t be classified with him.
Also, considering the comments I’ve seen for other strips, I’m surprised that neither Rodman nor Rose won the 40-year prize.
