The most common side effects of Ambien (zolpidem) are drowsiness, dizziness, and a “drugged” feeling. Other side effects include confusion, insomnia, euphoria, ataxia (balance problems), visual changes and sleepwalking (especially if you’re a wizard). Ambien (zolpidem) can cause withdrawal symptoms (muscle cramps, sweats, shaking, and seizures), zapping objects in your sleep and a dangerous case of the Z’s.

That Ambien is nasty stuff. This strip is very close to what my husband did 3 nights ago.

I now the feeling.

I tried driving in my sleep. The cops were not overly amused and neither was my wife as I totaled our car.

don’tcha just hate it when the list of side effects is longer and more severe than whatever disease it’s supposed to cure?

I don’t have any side effects, but I don’t use it often.

No more Ambien for me either. I would get up and do all sorts of things. My late husband objected most to my making the bed while he was still in it.

Love those side effects! One side effect of an insomnia medication is insomnia? How does that work?

On the list of side effects: cook an egg mcmuffin in the middle of the night and enjoy eating it.

Ambien is evil. Seriously, avoid it at all costs, especially if you drink any alcohol or take other ‘recreational’ drugs.My mother was on it for a bit. She had quit smoking for several months. She woke up one morning and discovered several packs of cigarettes on the kitchen table that she later learned she’d driven to the store to buy and then proceeded to smoke several cigs before going back to bed (no memory of doing anything). Yeah, she was hooked again and had to go through the withdrawals again.Worse yet: I worked in a local county courthouse a few years ago. We had a criminal case where a night supervisor was on Ambien due to the shift change. He also dabbled a bit in cocaine and found himself driving down the road shooting a pistol into the air while hanging out the car’s window. Again, he had no memory of the event and the behavior was completely opposite of his normal behavior and shocked everyone who knew him.Oh, the little detail that he was on prescribed Ambien was not allowed into the evidence (meaning, the jury wasn’t given that information) because it might have been prejudicial. Yeah, you think?
