When all phones belonged to Ma Bell…. the number of the phone was right on the dial or body of the phone. Now that we buy our phones, that is no longer the case. Of course, one could use a marker pen and write the number somewhere on the phone, but it seems like few do that.
As a senior citizen, I gave in a few years back and got a cell phone for emergencies. My son showed me the trick of adding my home and cell phone numbers under an assumed name. It is a help when speaking on the house phone, and only family and my two best friends have my cell phone number. I never give my cell phone number to anyone.

And it’s hard to remember phone #‘s when they are on speed dial. All you do it hit one key, and that’s it. So who can remember anything else?
