It annoys me when parents agree that every kid deserves a medal no matter how good or bad they are, when I was younger and didn’t get a medal, it just made me want to try harder to get one.
This really is flawed logic. Kids really do need to learn how to fail. Instead we wrap them up in bubble wrap, tell them constantly how good they are, and protect them from every germ and bully. Most kids will survive this cocoon of care and grow up to be productive adults, but many will not be able to face life.
