they actually are putting their scent on you, I found this out when a neighbor’s cat chased me all over their house. He (the cat) hated my big gray male cat and picked a fight with him every chance he got. I guess he thought it was Max come to life!
Compare to today’s “The Duplex” where Eno pets the dog because there are no hand towels in the bathroom.
