Andy was being sincere, actually. He wasn’t trying to get fired, even (for a change). That’s why today’s was funny. I know I was wishing Andy had his old copper bathtub yesterday, but I can’t help wondering today if his neck of England ever discovered hoses. (I know, I know, not only is that inconsistent, but it wouldn’t even make a joke!)
“Like the Thirsty Isle? Never been there.. . . . Andy in Joe Jost’s?”I’ve never seen any of your posts before because I don’t often look at Andy Capp. But it is obvious that you have spent some time in Long Beach or Lakewood, CA. In the 1960’s I worked at Douglas Aircraft, and usually on Fridays some of us on the swing shift in Bldg. 6A (Production Control) would go to The Thirsty Isle on Carson St at Lakewood Blvd for lunch. They had good Polish sausage sandwiches and beer. As for Joe Jost’s on Anaheim St. I went there only a few times. As I recall, it was billed as the longest running active bar since the end of prohibition. Is it still in operation?

I’d hate to see him waxing a car the Miyagi way (wax on with one hand, wax off with the other).

I’m not sure if I’m in the minority or not but I think today’s strip is excellent. I didn’t even see the punchline coming.
